tag:gitlist.org,2012:commit/44e11a9be653c920f6b7afd548024c6bcd2fe700Add "seq" card type2023-06-29T17:42:36-04:00John Smith
<pre>The `CardType` field of a card can now have value "seq" (rather than
just "bmc" as in b39812d), indicating that each double-semicolon (`;;`)
in the `BaseNote` indicates a point at which to split the text, which
is to be memorised in sequential steps. The text before the first `;;`
is presented in any case as a prompt.
The "a" option (addcards.lua) still produces `bmc` cards. Making a `seq`
card requires a lot of manual effort for now.

<pre>By replacing a frequently-executed line's string.format with direct
string concatenation, this makes recrw.write faster -- about 30% less
execution time, in my tests.

<pre>To make the code make more sense and be more extensible for potential
future card formats, this replaces the list-of-lists-of-prompts
data model with a list-of-cards model, where each card has an associated
list of prompts. This involved many changes to the code internals
and some changes to the Recfile deck format, but there should be no
significant changes for the end user.
